WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Suitable for all workplace personnel.  This is a short but effective introduction to waste and pollution and looks into how organisations and individuals can get involved in cutting down environmental impacts in their day to day activities.

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
• Describe what impact the industry has on the environment
• Describe how can you control pollution and waste
• Describe what is meant by ‘the environment’
• Define what is meant by ‘pollution’ and ‘waste’, and provide examples
• Demonstrate how businesses can help to reduce pollution and waste by using the company waste streams
• Describe the different categories of waste
• Describe what are the main elements of an environmental management system
• State the benefits of introducing an environmental management system (EMS)
- ISO 14001
- Company EMS

CONTENT
Delegates will be issued with course notes, which will give information relating to the important issues when considering environmental liability including risk assessment, hazards and control measures in the working environment.

LEARNING APPROACH
The theory part of the training will be delivered in a presentation environment, which will be tutor lead, with support of a Power Point presentation, video and question sessions. The content of the programme will be 80% theory and 20% practical.

This awareness course aims to help workers understand the environmental aims of the company, and the need for “green” principles.
