- State the key skills of a successful manager and team leader
- Identify own management style and how it impacts on others
- Recognise individual strengths to help manage teams more effectively
- Describe effective communication and how and where it should be used at work
- Explain the key principles of effective self and time management and how they can be applied at work
- Explain and demonstrate how to motivate individual team members
- Handle potentially difficult business issues professionally and create positive outcomes
- Describe effective performance management - what it is and how it can be applied to benefit the individual and the business
- Define ‘team leadership' and use a range of tools and techniques to motivate the team to achieve success
- Create a Personal Action Plan to implement on return to work

- The difference between managing, operating, leading and management styles
- Core competencies required by Managers
- Effective communication - including verbal and listening skills
- Motivation - what motivates the individual/team, what motivational tools can be used and when to use them
- Delegation - how to make delegation work for the individual, you and the business
- Team building/leadership -highlighting what ‘good team leadership looks like' and why effective teamwork builds a successful team
- Classical self and time management techniques - finding the ones that suit you and how and when to use them
- Performance management - what it is and how it can be used to improve the skills and motivation of team members
- Handling difficult issues - decision making and problem solving in action

The course is highly participative and delegates will build a Managers Toolkit that will become an invaluable reference as for them as they progress their management career.
Features
Pre-course, delegates will be asked to complete some preparatory activity (profiling questionnaire and brief reading).
Post-course, delegates will be expected to apply their management/leadership skills within their own team.
