Health and Safety providers first on scene at crash site
Wed 23 December 2009

Trainers from Catalis Rail and Health and Safety training site in Clapham put their own skills to the test after a road accident outside of the training school on Wednesday 16th December.
The Catalis trainers and delegates came to the rescue in the accident that was caused when a double decker bus was sent crashing over on to its side after a collision with a lorry. The impact of the crash sent the lorries load, 30ft steel girders through the windows of the bus leaving many passengers trapped in the wreckage and four further passengers and the bus driver with serious injuries.
The Catalis trainers and delegates began to help by smashing the rear window of the bus, and assisting passengers to crawl to safety, they were then taken straight to the training school; which Catalis had offered to the emergency services for use as an incident room, with the purpose of bringing the passengers to the canteen area for warmth, refreshments, interviewing and assessment of injuries.
Catalis staff and delegates were thanked by the emergency service teams present at the crash site for their quick response, which played a big part in ensuring the welfare and safety of the passengers involved.
