Who Should Attend
Delegates who are involved with the maintenance and faulting of lineside operational telephones.
Objectives
On successful completion of the course the delegate will be able to:
- State the function and purpose of specific lineside operational telephones
- Explain the various methods of telephone operation and the importance of fully operational equipment
- Describe the basic circuit elements of an installation, the line conditions for various signal box systems and the function and purpose of fault control
- Perform first level maintenance on a given system and record maintenance findings
- Verify fault symptoms and analyse and discriminate faulty circuitry
- State the possible causes of the malfunction and record findings in appropriate documentation
- Use flow charts and/or test schedules to carry out methodical fault analysis and testing to identify the cause of failure of a system
- Carry out effective repairs, test to confirm operation, record findings in appropriate documentation and communicate effectively with Telecomms Fault Control and other customers
- Carry out first level faulting and effective repairs

Learning Approach
Classroom sessions, demonstrations and practical exercises. Competence based theory and practical assessments are included. The simulated environment also allows component changing under controlled conditions and where appropriate the equipment may be stripped to base and re-built.
