WHO SHOULD ATTEND
A COSS who holds the necessary assessments and log book entries attained prior to recertification.

OBJECTIVES
On successful completion of the course the delegate will be able to:
• Demonstrate their ability to interpret correctly relevant parts of the Rule Book and relevant Railway Group Standards when acting as a COSS
• Demonstrate their understanding and ability to set up a safe system of work before any group of staff is allowed to go on or near the line

LEARNING APPROACH
Trainer led classroom and practical sessions. There are theory and a practical assessments these form part of the re-certification.

FEATURES
On successful completion of this event an application will be made to the NCCA for a COSS competence to be renewed. A log book will be issued. 
The delegates Personal Track Safety (PTS) competency will be revised so that the PTS and COSS competencies shown on the card will have the same expiry date. 
An assessment must be undertaken by a Track Safety Assessor between 9 and 15 months from the Recertification pass date of the COSS Recertification training course. There is a requirement for the Assessor to view candidates log book and a minimum of 4 entries must have been made. After the assessment, a further 4 log book entries need to be entered prior to recertification. All entries must be endorsed

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• A valid PTS certificate and COSS certificate must be presented to the trainer at the start of each event
• A log book with sufficient entries needs to be produced on the course
• All assessments must have been logged with NCCA prior to attendance on recertification
• A Personal Rule Book must be brought to the event by each delegate
• NCCA site ID and address of sponsoring organisation will be required when booking the event
