WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is designed to train persons who are responsible for the planning of safe systems of work on Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure. These persons will be making decisions as to what level in the planning hierarchy and what safety arrangements are planned for use of staff at the site. Delegates must also be aged 18 or over with good communication skills.

A person who holds Stage 1 Core Planning Skills or 3 months experience in the planning environment and competent in using the Sectional Appendices, National Hazard Directory and Signalling Diagrams to identify/extract information is also required or be able to demonstrate that they possess sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Core Planner 1 course content to be exempted.

OBJECTIVES
On successful completion of the course the delegates will be able to:
• Provide sufficient understanding of the basic components and practice of railway engineering for the planning of the safe engineering access and safe systems of work on or about Network
Rail Infrastructure.
• Provide full understanding of the principles governing the implementation of the safe system of work on Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure
• Demonstrate where to gather information
• Process the ability to determine the appropriate safe system of work whilst undertaking a wide range of activities on site.

LEARNING APPROACH
Trainer led classroom and practical sessions. There is also a theory and practical assessment of the candidates knowledge and skills.

FEATURES
On successful completion of the course, will provide the delegate with the competencies as defined within Network Rail Business Process Standard NR/SP/OSH/019. A Core Planner 2 card will also be issued by Sentinel.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• A Personal Rule Book with relevant modules must be brought to the event by each delegate
• NCCA site ID and address of the sponsoring organisation will be required when booking the event
• Recertification is undertaken as an Annual Knowledge Assessment in the workplace
