WHO SHOULD ATTEND
People wanting to maintain their IWA competency.  This assessment counts as one of the workplace assessments required by the 2 year IWA competence ‘cycle’.  Railway Group Standard GO/RT 3358 (Persons responsible for protecting work on or near the Line) requires employers to select delegates for this role based on documented processes to assess aptitude and prior experience.

OBJECTIVES
To assess the delegate’s ability to ensure their own protection by carrying out the duties of an Individual Working Alone as set out in Modules T2, T6, T7 & T12 of the Rule Book and competence requirements of GO/RT 3358 Appendix C.

CONTENT
Observation of delegate undertaking IWA duties.

LEARNING APPROACH
Assessment by observation of performance and questioning and examination of documentary evidence.

FEATURES
Notification of the assessment result will be sent to the delegate’s employer, and notification will also be sent to NCCA.
To maintain IWA competence each delegate must undertake 2 assessments within each 2 year ‘cycle’.  Sentinel Guidance documents recommend that the first assessment in each ‘cycle’ is part of a refresher event (See IWA Re-certification information sheet).
