WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Delegates who are required to undertake Signal Maintenance Testing in accordance with Network Rail Instructions. Delegates will need to have experience of fault finding on signalling equipment and be able to read circuit diagrams and be able to use a multimeter, insulation tester and bell/buzzer unit and have completed Basic Signalling One and Two courses.

OBJECTIVES
On successful completion of the course the delegate will be able to:
• Carry out defined tests, follow and apply procedures and deal with documentation as specified in the Signalling Maintenance Testing handbook

• Procedures involved in using and applying the handbook
• Wire counting
• Temporary labelling of wires
• Procedure to produce missing test plan
• AC and DC earth test
• Continuity test
• Insulation test
• Cable function test
• Aspect testing
• Point detection and correspondence testing
• TPWS test
• Block controls tests
• Block recovery test

LEARNING APPROACH
Practical sessions reinforced with necessary theory. Practical and theory assessments are included.

FEATURES
Hands on experience with the actual equipment. A simulated environment with the ability to have faults applied where any errors made do not compromise the safety of traffic. Theory and practical assessments used to test achievement of the course objectives.
