WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Delegates whose work requires an understanding of operation and faulting techniques used on Westpac Geographical interlocking systems. Essentially, students must be able to interpret wiring diagrams use Avometer/Fluke meter, have good understanding of signalling systems and successfully completed Relay Interlocking (RI).

OBJECTIVES
On successful completion of the course the delegate will be able to:
• Explain system operation
• Locate and rectify faults in the various levels and stages of route setting/releasing

• Geographical system principles
• System construction
• PBI and push button circuits
• Route selection circuits
• Calling and locking circuits
• Point setting and locking
• Route releasing including TORR
• Overlaps
• Flank protection
• Control panel and indication circuits
• Use of fault finding procedure
• Fault finding practice

LEARNING APPROACH
Classroom sessions, practical demonstrations and practical fault finding sessions on a working Westpac system. Approximately 50% of the course is spent on practical work.
Theory and practical assessments are included.

FEATURES
Delegates have an opportunity to develop fault finding skills on a complex interlocking without compromising the safety of a working interlocking. The skills thus obtained allow the rapid resolution of potentially costly failures on lineside systems.
