Who Should Attend
This course is aimed at the manager or supervisor whose role involves planning, designing and delivering training or coaching sessions to team members/colleagues.
It will give delegates the confidence to deliver highly interactive and engaging sessions that will bring about positive change to the way trainees do their jobs.
Delegates will be provided with a Trainers ‘Toolkit' of icebreakers, Energisers, Activities and Hints and Tips to help them in the future.
Objectives
- Explain Kolb's Learning Cycle and describe how it can be used to deliver effective training
- State the four learning styles and identify own preferred learning style
- State the qualities of an effective trainer
- Use questioning and listening techniques to assess/review learning
- Identify barriers to understanding and involve participants
- Give and receive feedback in a positive and constructive manner
- Describe the 10 steps to effective facilitation
- Plan, prepare and deliver a short one-to-one coaching session or training session
- Apply the skills and techniques of training, coaching and facilitation to the delivery of training
- Deal effectively with difficult training situations/delegates
- Create a Personal Action Plan to implement on return to work

Learning Approach
Using a very practical and participative style, delegates will be given the opportunity to deliver a training session at the start of the workshop and during the afternoon of Day 2. This allows them to apply their learning immediately and see the improvement and progress they have made as a result of the workshop.
Features
- Pre-course delegates will complete a Learning Styles Questionnaire and prepare to present a short training session. They will also be asked to reflect on their experiences of training (good and bad) and consider the qualities of an effective Trainer.
- Post-course, the delegates will be asked to apply their learning to the delivery of a training or coaching session. They will be asked to follow the phases of the Learning Cycle to guide the preparation and design/delivery of the session.
