For those who would like to have the knowledge and understanding on how to safely operate a wheel lathe.
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
Delegates will be issued with course notes that will be used throughout the training programme, which will include information relating to the machine being trained upon.
The theory part of the training which is approximately 30% of the course will be delivered in a classroom environment, which will be tutor lead, with support of presentation material. The remaining 70% of the course will be practical based using the machine to gain experience of setting up, checking and physically turning wheelsets in a variety of ways.
Delegates will be able to produce re-profiled wheelset and brake discs to specified standards.
The course may require a site visit prior to the training, to carryout a risk assessment and inspection of the equipment to be used. Depot induction, site assessment and specific safety certificate relevant to the site is a pre-requisite.
Due to the practical nature of the event and restricted access, delegates are limited to 3.
The course is assessed and graded according to client requirements and presented with a wheel lathe certificate after course completion.
